Archie (Waterbury)

Type of Animal:
Black & White Medium Haired

Meet Archie!  He is a very special dog that we pulled out of the Waterbury Pound on January 28, 2020.

Archie's foster mom says Archie is the most perfect foster dog she has ever had, and that means a LOT because she fosters dogs all the time!

We have no idea why sweet Archie ended up on the streets of Waterbury as a stray, because he was clearly cared for in the past. Archie is approximately 10 years old and housebroken. He was already neutered when we pulled him, and had undergone dental work because all of his teeth are missing and the vet states that they were surgically removed.

Archie loves to snuggle under the covers with his person and get belly rubs. He enjoys car rides when other dogs are with him, but gets nervous when he is on his own in the car. This makes sense since he was abandoned outside of an office building where he was most likely brought in a car. Archie does not like being crated but doesn't really need to be because he's well-behaved.

Archie is currently being fostered in a home with 3 small dogs and he's doing great with them. He did just fine with a larger dog and with the indoor cats we introduced him to. However, he barks like crazy when he sees the feral cats outside his foster home, even though he was ok with an outside cat who allowed him to approach and get a sniff in.

Archie is a good watch dog. He'll bark when strangers come to the house, but is otherwise a quiet and well-behaved little dog.

Archie is a bit overweight and really needs to lose a couple of pounds. We put him on a high-quality diet and have been walking him daily.  We think the perfect home for Archie is one that is quiet, and with an owner who will walk him daily and shower him with affection.
