Some stories break your heart, but somehow hope finds a way to stitch it back together — TALLY’s story is one of those.
TALLY was found back in June, wandering the streets of Mississippi, skin and bones, limping, clearly in rough shape. A kind stranger scooped TALLY up, and began searching for her family — knocking on doors, searching lost pet pages, and doing everything possible to find where she belonged. No one came forward, so when she returned to Connecticut she brought TALLY with her thinking a friend may want her. Alas, her friend wasn't ready for a new dog so TALLY came to us.
After hearing the Good Samaritan's description of events and through a bit of detective work, we were able to find TALLY's original owner, Jennifer, and piece together what happened. Two years ago (May 2024), Jennifer went to jail for 3 weeks. During that time, TALLY was given to a woman who lived in the trailer park. When Jennifer was released and tried to check up on TALLY, that woman blocked her. Then somehow, somewhere between that moment and this past June of 2025, Tally ended up abandoned — alone and broken — just seven minutes from where her story began.
TALLY travelled all the way to Connecticut — nearly 1,000 miles — to finally get the medial care she needed and to find the safe, loving home she deserves.
At 14 years old, TALLY's tiny body carries the mark of neglect. When she arrived both ears were completely blocked from chronic untreated infection, she had a urinary tract infection, mammary tumors that needed to be removed, and arthritis in her rear left knee that makes climbing stairs a challenge.
Yet despite all that, her spirit continues to shine!
TALLY is a gentle, affectionate lap dog who melts into your arms and adores quiet moments with her people. She loves puttering around a fenced yard, going for little walks, and then curling up in her bed (or better yet, your lap) for a long nap.
TALLY gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats. What she needs now is someone who can offer her a safe place to land for her final chapter — someone who can lift her up and down stairs, who doesn’t mind a few vet visits, and who will see past her age and into her heart.
Because after everything she’s been through, TALLY deserves to be someone’s whole world again.
Will you be the one to give her a forever home?
She recently had surgery to remove her mammary tumors and the biopsy results came back benign! She was spayed at the same time. He UTI and ear infections are all cleared up.
TALLY is being fostered in Middletown, CT. She is ready to go and absolutely worth it!
