Meet TALLY — a gentle soul ready for her forever chapter.

Some stories break your heart, but somehow hope finds a way to stitch it back together. TALLY’s story is one of those.

TALLY was found in June, wandering the streets of rural Mississippi — painfully thin, limping, and clearly struggling. A compassionate Good Samaritan scooped her up and immediately began searching for her family, knocking on doors and posting on lost pet pages. When no one came forward, she brought TALLY back to Connecticut, which led TALLY to us.

Through careful detective work, we were eventually able to connect with TALLY’s former owner in Mississippi. She lost TALLY in 2024 when she went to jail and was devastated by it. She loves TALLY deeply and wishes her nothing but the best as she starts a new life here in Connecticut. While there are still unanswered questions about how TALLY ended up alone, we do know this: somehow, between love and loss, TALLY found herself abandoned just 7 minutes from where her journey first began.

Now 14 years old, TALLY has known both kindness and hardship. Her tiny body bears the effects of long-term neglect, but thanks to proper veterinary care, she is feeling good and ready for her forever home. TALLY was treated for severe, chronic ear infections that had completely blocked her ear canals, and a urinary tract infection has been fully cleared. She also underwent spay surgery and to remove mammary tumors, which were thankfully benign. TALLY does have arthritis in her rear left knee, which can make stairs a challenge, but she manages well with a gentle lifestyle and a little extra help.

And yet — her spirit shines.

TALLY traveled nearly 1,000 miles to Connecticut for a second chance, and she greets that chance with quiet grace. She is a gentle, affectionate lap dog who melts into your arms and treasures calm companionship. She enjoys puttering around a fenced yard, short leisurely walks (or longer walks in her stroller), and then settling in for a cozy nap — preferably curled up in a soft bed or right on your lap. She pretty much sleeps all day long.

TALLY gets along beautifully with other dogs and cats and would thrive in a peaceful, patient home that understands senior dogs need extra compassion. TALLY is looking for someone who can help her with stairs when needed (she weighs 12.5 lbs), keep her comfortable, and see her not for her age — but for her heart.

After everything she’s endured, TALLY deserves to be someone’s whole world again.

TALLY is being fostered in Middletown, CT.
