HAMMIE (Redding)

Type of Animal:
Boxer Mix

Meet Hammie!  (Pronounced "HAM-IE"  because she's a total ham!)  She is between 12-18 months old and appears to be a boxer mixed with either American Bull Dog or American Staffordshire Terrier, but there's a dispute with our vet and our trainer, as they thinks she mixed with Boston Terrier! Only a DNA testz will settle this debate, but all we know is that Hammie is a fabulous dog no matter what her breed. She is full grown and weighs a perfect 40 lbs.

Life didn't start out so well for Hammie. She lived her entire life inside a crate until she somehow ended up at the Pound and was going to be euthanized.  Lucky for Hammie, our trainer stepped in and saved her life.  Now Hammie is safe and in a foster home!

Hammie currently lresides with two large dogs who she loves to play with, but she also exhibits some toy and food aggression towards them, so we would like to see her in a home with no other pets, or in a home with a very experienced owner and a larger environment where she can have her own area away from the other dog.

Hammie does not exhibit any aggressive behaviors towards humans, except sometimes when she's at the vet. Unfortunately she hasn't had good experiences at the vet so it's best if she is muzzled for her exams, at least until she becomes more comfortable.

Hammie LOVES to go for long walks and car rides!  She would do best in an active home where she can get lots of exercise, and at the end of the day have a human to snuggle with on the couch, because she really is a love bug.

Hammie is up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and will be spayed prior to adoption. Click here to submit an online application to adopt a dog.  She's being fostered in Redding, CT.
