Adoption Procedures

At Passion 4 Paws we believe in thoughtful, lifelong matches between people and pets. We take the time to get to know each adopter so we can help you find the companion who best fits your lifestyle—and ensure our animals find the loving, permanent homes they deserve. Because we know our animals so well, we're uniquely positioned to guide you in making the perfect match.

A Lifelong Commitment

Our top priority is placing animals in homes where they will be cherished and cared for—for life. Please take time to reflect on this commitment before adopting. Cats can live up to 20 years, and dogs—depending on breed—can live well into their teens.

If you are not prepared to care for an animal for its full lifespan, we kindly ask that you wait until the time is right. We also ask that all adopters thoughtfully consider their own age and long-term living situation in relation to the age and needs of the pet they wish to adopt.

Depending on where you are in life—whether you're retred, downsizing, or navigating your own life changes—a young, high-energy pet may not always be the best fit. Puppies and kittens require years of care, commitment, and training.

In many cases, a calm adult or senior animal can be a truly rewarding companion, offering love, loyalty, and connection without the challenges of raising a young pet. Our team is here to help you make a match that brings joy and peace of mind—for both you and the animals

To be considered as an adopter, you must:

  • Complete an Application to Adopt a Pet
  • Be at least 21 years old with steady employment/income
  • Bring your up-to-date driver’s license or another photo ID at the time of adoption
  • Be willing to have home visit
  • Be willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment, and proper care for your adoptive pet
  • Be willing to sign our adoption contract

Adoption Fees & Veterinary Costs:

Passion 4 Paws is a volunteer-run, non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue. We do not profit from adoptions—in fact, we often absorb significant costs to ensure every animal receives exceptional care.

We dot not have fixed adoption fees for adult and senior animals. Veterinary costs vary widely depending on age, medical needs, and prior care. While we strive to keep adoption donations reasonable, it's not uncommon for a single animal's care to exceed $2,00-$3,500.

We waive adoption fees for senior pets, because we believe they deserve safe, loving homes in their golden years. While their care may be costly, their comfort and happiness are priceless. All we ask is that adopters consider a donation to help us continue our lifesaving work.

Due to the closures and backlogs at many low-cost clinics, we sometimes must rely on full-service veterinary hospitals for standard vetting, which may result in higher adoption fees. Every dollar donated goes directly into our Veterinary Fund to support ongoing rescue and medical efforts.
